The New York Garment Center Supplier Association was founded to protect and foster the vitality of NYC-based businesses involved in manufacturing apparel or accessories. Garment Center businesses employ over 7,100 New Yorkers in manufacturing, as well as thousands more in storefront and loft locations in the Garment District supplying trim and fabric.
NYGCSA has a non-profit arm, GCSA Foundation, which focuses on building awareness for manufacturing in Manhattan.
GCSA completed a survey of over 400 manufacturers in the Garment Center and in-depth interviews with 157 manufacturing owners. The results both showed a vibrant ecosystem of manufacturing as well as revealed vulnerabilities of an apparel industry under threat.
